Not sure where to post so let's try here.
       I know this subject has been well covered in the past but I can't find anything now so perhaps someone could either re-direct me or help out.
        I play a standard 3 row ADG with 12 bass and am looking into another  three row with 18 basses.
 Is there a standard common sense layout ?
       The only thing I know for sure is I need is a pulled G note/chord and a C# ( poss. one button so it's on the press and draw ) I do miss a real Am.......

If you would like to get in touch I can probably help,I have an ADG  Castagnari Big 18 due in but have in stock a Big 18 DG acc and Handry 18 second hand ADG.
I stock standard layouts but have them altered if required to suit customers specific  requirements.

Just adding a bump here........I wonder if I am on the right thread as I'm sure there is a raft of knowledge on this site that I'm not tapping into ?
        People busy at Christmas maybe.
Anyway, I really need to order a new Serenellini "Annalisa" !! , but need advice on the bass !

It’s an individual thing.  Just add the basses you wish you had!  There has been one recent topic about the design of extra basses on a 2.5 row.you could probably apply the same principles.

Hi Robin.  I have 18 basses on a D/G/Acc (see attached).  Not entirely the same situation but might give you some ideas.  On the extra row, I certainly use the C-sharp and the E-reversal.  B-flat/E-flat/G-sharp have not proven useful to date, but who knows in the future.

It's not something I've thought about before.  But if I was designing it I would be more inclined to add useful reversals and only extra basses useful to play in the keys of the instrument rather than extra keys as the right hand remains limited.

G pull, Emaj push (or maybe Em push), F pull, C# push all sound very sensible.  The remaining 2 basses could be Eb and Bb if you were pushing towards flatter keys but that's tricky on an A/D/G - an F# reversal might be more useful.

A sensible route is to take your 12 bass layout and add the stuff you'd like to the 3rd bass row. A less sensible route is to unisonoric the thing, which you can do even more effectively on an 18 bass than a 12 bass - giving, say, G, C, D, A, Emin, Bmin, on the original 12, then Emaj, F#min and C# on the 3rd row, all in both directions - whether you'd want to use a pair for E maj when you already have E min is a 50-50 in my mind, but if you intend to play much in A, I probably would.

       Turns out though that Serenellini don't do handmade reeds on the Annalisa........they do Tipo a Mano.

             Is there a substantial difference in sound, playabilty etc ? I have Binci reeds on my Vander Aa and like them very much.

I am looking for Castagnary Handry 18 standard bass side layout table, it can be full layout of course 
Only one 3 row 18 bass layout is for D/G/Acc - not sure it's the same for A/D/G or D/G/C

Hi Andrius - as far as I'm aware, there is not a standard bass layout for 18 bass A/D/G (or G/C/F etc) systems.  The 18 bass models were designed to go with G/C/Acc or D/G/Acc systems as a way of allowing the basses to have the same level of chromaticism of the right hand side.

Because of this, if you want to order an A/D/G with 18 basses, you will need to specify a layout (or take whatever someone else has specified).  A/D/G is a system which is not capable of playing in as many keys as D/G/Acc ... so you will have to design a system which suits the way you will play the instrument - probably involving more reversals than accidental bass notes - and definitely including a C#.

I am playing 3 row boxes without accidentals (G/C/F, F/Bb/Eb, A/D/G), and I am familiar with 12 or 16 basses layouts (I use custom 16 bass layout, not the same like old Hohners). I'm curious about 18 bass layout to understand need I second hand Handry 12 or Handry 18 
Sadly new ones are too good (to expensive) for me

The Handry 18 I have is ADG,will get full layout tomorrow,Hand made reeds in this one,price £3750.
