Help needed - fusion tune and score needed
« on: December 14, 2017, 04:09:24 PM »

Hi
Just in the middle of school performances and also trying to manage the curriculum stuff. I need to test year 11s on fusion, and would like to have a recording of a traditional English or Celtic folk tune played on some trad instruments (melodeon would be great of course) and either African instruments or electronic instruments, or all three.
Ideally a piece where I could access a basic score of the tune and a recording. Can't use Capercaillie or Afro Celt Sound System but any other group is welcome.
Any ideas are gratefully received at this busy time.

Something from Edward II repertoire maybe http://edwardthesecond.co.uk/ (Simon Care on melodeon)?

You might find something on the Musiquepublique channel on YouTube. Sorry, I don’t have time to go through it at the moment.

Thanks all. As I have to write a score out I'll go with Shepherds Hey. Martin Bennett would be a nightmare to write out.  Good for unfamiliar listening though. Job nearly done.

One for another time - not really sure how fusion it is but varied instruments - Tiger Moth; Mothballs (1996).  Lots of interesting interpretations of English and other traditional tunes and plenty of melodeon.
