concertina system identifiction help
« on: December 22, 2017, 02:55:52 PM »

Have this concertina ebay buy good biuld hohner reeds unisonic.Only information I have." It was made by my late step father Peter Mattingley and has never been used, just kept in it's box." He made a couple a year and may have run a club in north London. It does not appear to be an English or a duet system? . Posting two pictures of the lay out  it seems as random as you can get.Lay out is Low to high from left to right. The air buttons are notes. It may be a Querty type system were the notes are easy placed as to use? Any help advice appreciated no good for me but am intrigued.

The button layout doesn't look like the common duet systems (MacCann or Crane), but it looks similar to a Jeffries duet system.

Seconded. That would be a much better place to ask, and they'll be all over it!

I guess the maker/inventor must be Peter Guy Mattingley (1931-2010), whose obituary (it seems) appears on page 20 of Concertina World;2011, Issue 448, June 6, 2011 - but I don't have access to it...  :(

Ok dont tell the otherside but I think this would be easy to convert to a diatonic box. If I got a three voice doner box will I have enougth reeds to fill it? Because the butons go up row, anglo style It would not be any good as an english or unisonic duet box me thinks. However if I transpose a melodeon reed set I would either have to loose the squeeky notes or I think a first-ish button start with the low notes going over to the right hand as i can happily losse the lowest notes. Do you think the reeds will be the same size to fit the chambers. I havent reopened the box because if I do I might start what may not get finished I was thinging Top row F next row C. I have a two voice set of Erika reeds what does that leave me to make up the G row.Just thinking at moment.A three row LMH would give all the octaves needed right? two many buttons for a anglo uless I make it german with extra butons.
