Thanks for the corrections.  Didn't know visa meant song. Google didn't give me that :) The country confusion was all mine. Lapse of memory. Apologies to Norway and Sweden for mixing you up. Nice tune, though.

We have many songs together. The man who wrote it live very close to the border.

One of my favorite at the moment is   "Norska valsen"   (Norwegian waltz)      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILLw2UX-nOA

And "Tröstevise"   writen by Benny Andersson   (from ABBA)  sung in  swedish/norwegian.
  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGrN5zr0KiY

And  this one  "Av längtan till dig" ( Of longing to you )    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGP9sXO8dFs

I still can NOT play them!   :)

Hello

Here's a newish tune wot I penned i.e. written about 25 years ago. However, what is new is this recording of the band 'Duck Soup', which includes the sainted Dan Quinn on melodeons. I absolutely love what they've done with it. Grab their CD (Everything and . . . ) from here: http://danquinn.co.uk/ourshop/cat_681222-Duck-Soup.html

For completeness, here is the version I heard first. I had forgotten it was a child playing. I think she is brilliant. I love this.

Another bonny French tune "La Nonchalante" by Emmanuel Pariselle.  It is a sea-faring song - La Nonchalante is a boat.

The pdf of the tune is attached.

I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you very much Maggie! I've actually been looking for a notation of this song today!

Now I just need to learn it and figure out how to properly record my playing... ;-)

Best wishes,

Here is the Kerry Polska, a tune written by Rune Barlsund :

(not the best of takes, and my microphones are being serviced at the moment, so apologies for the bad sound quality).

Nice one ! Did you see by any chance this video of Emmanuel himself, singing the song ? It's really beautiful (possibly better in this video than on the album) :

In the early noughties ex Albion Band member John Shepherd moved to Shropshire and started drinking in the same pub as our drummer Nick. This coincided with All Blacked Up (as we were then) needing a guitarist, and John was drafted in...although he ended up playing mostly keyboards. He brought quite a few of his own compositions with him, and this one's still in the set.

I like that one a lot Baz and it's gone on my learn list for today.  I stupidly looked for the dots on the internet searching for "Cardington Girls" but all I got was teenage netball teams  (:)  Guess I need to get my pencil out (after I have cleared my internet search history).

I remember the first time I looked for lyrics to a song, it was "Spanish Ladies" what a shock I got.

I like the Kerry polka - another one for my ‘must learn’ list.  Lovely tune

Thanks for the ‘Nonchalante’ link - a really fine recording

Is the Cardington the Bedfordshire Cardington where they house(d) airships and film Harry Potter?

Nope...a little village just outside Church Stretton Shropshire...although Harry Potter would fit in very well... :|glug

Thanks folks - onto the next theme... 2 or 3 possibilities; even I don't know what I'm going to choose! As ever, stick late contribs on the end here with complete impunity...

Baz - out of interest, what else do you pair up with Cardington Girls in your set?
