Melodeon Playgroup - one month to go
« on: January 11, 2018, 11:33:24 AM »

Yes folks, it's just one month till the return of the original Melodeon Playgroup.

This year the event is pretty much full - the improvers class is operating a reserve list and the beginners class is teetering on the brink of full so please, please contact us to check before turning up if you have not pre-registered via Facebook, on here or via our website.

Similarly, if you have registered but can no longer make it then please let us know  - leave  a message below, on our FB page or contact us via our website.

Advance music for the beginners is available already (thanks Lester), with the improvers resources to follow shortly - I will be contacting the absolute beginners personally with some advice and resources.

See you all soon Playgroupers

We will also have Acorn Instruments along as usual and copies of Ed Rennie's excellent tutor books will be available with a discount for playgroupers.

Hi Sue,  yes we're just waiting on the final version of the menu to be sent through. Pre-orders on the morning before class as usual.

The earth didn’t move for me but, there again, my sensitivity to trembles disappeared a long time ago. I was too busy thinking of ways to avoid tubs of Pot Pourri being lobbed by Lester for the heinous crime of “noodling”. I was also been accused of resurrecting the ghost of Lola! Overall, it is a smashing PlayGroup.

There was me thinking it was a tub of Pot Noodles, with the aim of potting persistent noodlers.  :o

By all accounts it worked.  :D

What an excellent Playgroup, thoroughly enjoyed great company and tutoring,  special thanks to the Elves, tutors and the Fleece, most impressed with Lester's workshop,  luckily no one received the ignominy of the Pot Noodle!
Let's see if I can attach a pic of Lester with his 6 stop behemoth melodeon,  no need for gym membership with one of those :||:

Just like to say thank you to all. My first event - I really enjoyed it. I was in Lester’s group which was brilliant. Really enjoyed the session in the barn afterwards also.

(I was the one who started playing tunes without announcing them first - sorry again!).

Thanks also to the lady who showed me how to play ‘bubbles’. I’ve go the sheet music and once I’ve transposed it from Bb, I hope to be able to come along again next year to play it as a party piece!

(I might even announce it).

"Lester with his 6 stop behemoth melodeon"

Is that 911377brian's wardrobe?

Really enjoyed Malcolm's pictures.

See you all again next year or sooner, list of where I will be on web site.

Maybe we can have a discussion group on, say, whether the wood a box is made of affects the tonal quality. Should be a calm and measured discourse, maybe even invite Helena for her incisive input.  (:)

Is this a Melnet in joke? !!
Elucidation appreciated.
Would have given the make of Lester's 6 stop and the tune he played  if I could remember it, highlight of the afternoon.

It is a Herford 1 Row 6 Stop and I played Oscar Woods Jig (or possibly Tiger Smith's Jig)

The box was indeed 911377brian's

It was indeed. Thanks both for a good laugh.  Maybe next year we can debate the thorny topic of how many straps to put on your melodeon?  >:E
