It begs the question about how much a new replacement would be, doesn't it?

Personally, I think some people have more money than sense.
Briggs instruments are undoubtedly superbly built boxes, but are they worth that sort of premium price?
At the end of the day you strap it to your chest, waggle the bellows, poke about a bit with your fingers and a nice sound comes out. There are plenty of boxes which could do just the same, cost under half that price, and no-one listening would be any the wiser.

Where there's a long wait for a new one to be made, people will pay over the odds to get one now... ::)

For that money (if I had it!) I could buy over 100 of my usual range of boxes....... :D :|glug

Seems more like plastic rubbish, these days. Hope they never make bellows out of it.

Must be because it was or is owned by one of those MAD melnet. Members ;)

Tag on the back looks like it was or is a Luke Daniels box, if I'm reading it correctly.

Wonder how much you could get for the spare reed block with it own carry case? does it come with a pair of pin pullers? (hang on a second I've got to change reeds) :D

What keys would the A/Bb blocks be good for? I think I got that C/C# is good for flat keys (Eb I think)
I'm I right in thinking that would be C. If so why not just play it on the row. There's probably more to it.

Edit to add: I like the bellows clasp, nice touch!

I remember looking at his website a while back, curious as to who or what this fabled person was and what he made. I remember thinking it was lovely stuff.
I think the last lot of Kay Albrecht's 2 row boxes to my mind had a similarly looking grill and furniture, again beautifully made.
It's the old story, why buy a Rolls Royce when Ford Kaa will do the same job?
.....but at that price you could have bought a Rolls Royce!

Seeing as he's Manchester based, has he ever made a DG for the English market?
And has anyone tried these fabled beasts?

I am sure that they are wonderful instruments. However, I would still like to have a test drive before spending that kind of money - not that I could afford it short of a Lottery win ! (Or a rich benefactor... ::))

I've never even seen one in a session!
I suppose that's not surprising as I only frequent English sessions at festivals, not Irish ones.
It seems to be a very niche box for the severing Irish player.
