I have been suffering a guilty conscience of late. It hasn't escaped my notice that I come on here to 'flog my wares' and I rarely take part in community discussion. This is something I've not been entirely comfortable with and want to change! I pledge to make time for engaging!

Here's my idea:

- I propose to host a weekly Q&A with me, here on this thread. "Ask me anything (about melodeons/teaching/learning  :P)"
- I will dedicate an hour of my time every Monday evening between 7-8pm GMT to answer your questions in real time.
- Post me your woes!
- Let me be your agony aunt!
- Vent your frustration!
- Perhaps share a little video of what you're struggling with and I can send one back in return.

If you can't be here for the live Q&A then leave a comment in this thread and I can pick it up when I log in each week. I'll do my best to get through as many as I can in the hour!

Also, I'd love to give it a catchy title, in a hashtag like all the #somewherehours out there on Twitter land etc. Does anyone have a good idea for one? #MelHour just sounds a little bit dull! Post your ideas below!

So how does this sound? Let's give it a go and see if it takes off! See you next week 26/03/18 at 7-8pm GMT.

Mel  :|||:

Hi Brian! Thanks for your offering.

I guess it is a bit in your face! Needs to be something more inviting I feel?

Ideas from other sources (aka my family!) include MelChat, MelodeonAunt, MelodeonSurgery and AskMel. Hmmm...  :-\

Hi Mel,
This is really nice of you! I'm looking forward to the chat.

Don't know if your familiar with NPR (national public radio) they had a program called Car talk with
Click and clack.
If you don't know the show it's worth a listen, funny guys the tappet brothers.

So, Mel or melodeon talk with click and clack - you'd just need a partner (:)
Or just Mel talk or melodeon talk. /Treble talk. /Go ahead push my buttons./ Push Mel's buttons.
Ok I'll stop (:)

Hello!

I was out in the US (Boston, MA and NY) during January/early Feb and NPR was explained to me then (are you in the States too? If so whereabouts?)

Good idea Mel. I like AskMel....so far.
This could end up like one of those Python sketches like "What has Mel done for the Melodeonists"
Here goes and, as they say,  a daft idea sometimes leads to a corker.
MELonAIR said with a French or Italian expression with hands (probably needs to end with an "i" in the latter case).
MELHOUR
MEL60
GETMEL which needs to be said with an East London aggressive voice.
MELLEM an inverse combination!

I like GETMEL but that's me - sad!

Haha! I like your mind, Brace. Get Mel... hmmm... don't think people will get confused with Get Shorty?! And MelonAir - I can see it in my head!

Ask Mel kind of does what it says on the tin doesn't it?! I do like simple

How about “Mel’s Q&A Hour” ?

Yes I am leaning more towards the simplistic approach! Hashtags are funny in that you can't have symbols in them though. But I'll play and see what works

Hi Mel,
Yes, I'm in the states just north of Boston. I live on Cape Ann in Rockport.

Ah! I was in Belmont for most of my visit. Travelled over to see Doug Creighton at The Button Box and a load of reprobates from Jugglers Meadow/Wake Robin Morris sides. I was also working with my business mentor up in Binghamton for a week. Took a trip to NYC a few days too! (the holiday part of a very busy 3 weeks of filming!)

I'm going to be making it an annual trip so it would be good to catch up with you next year?

What a gracious off Aunt Mel!  I've never had an aunty before.

I am looking forward to periodically having an aunt to (virtually) "cry on the shoulder of" in pursuit of assurance/clarification/another perspective/etc. here in the US (don't maker political fun) kingdom of old timey/Irish C#D.

It appears that you already have enough creative name suggestions here so I'll stay out and look for any announcements of this generous initiative! Clawhammer Bill

Hey Bill! Glad to meet another box buddy from across the pond! Are you also a C#/D player? (not my area of expertise at all I'm afraid! eek!)

Also, I have it folks - #AskMelonBox It's simple and to the point! Thanks for all your suggestions - comical and otherwise!
