Just finished listening to them on R3 Proms.

I just love it - how it's such a double bluff send up of a pee take... like one huge layered irony cake...

Loved their (ukelele-less) shantyesque take on Pinball Wizard...with a cheeky bit of Joe Dolce banter chucked in... ;D

Somewhat of a coincidence (notwithstanding UOGB's penchant to play about with lyrics)... I know someone who swears blind that Pinball Wizard comes close to being the universal lyric... fits all manner of tunes...

...including Ode to Joy... >:E

A group of melodeons to form an orchestra? would the conductor have a chequered flag  for the one that finished the tune first.

I have just realised that a collective name for a group of melodeon players should be called 'a race'

A couple of years ago at some musical gathering, I recruited a bunch of top melodeon players to form a band called "The Throbbers". We only played one tune "Speed the Plough". It was quite enough.
The line-up was as follows:

Rod Stradling playing the tune in G.
Roger Grimes playing in D.
Ed Rennie in C#.
Katie Howson in C. (didn't get past the first B part, collapsed in giggles!)
Ivor Philips in B.
Barry Callaghan in Bb.
Pete Grassby in A.
Jeannie Harris in F.
James Tween in Eb.
Myself in F#.

Now that's what I call a wide musette. We brought the house down!

Hold on a minute - where's your sense of tradition Lester - I insist on playing Beethoven's Ode to Joy in the original D minor!

Ideal for The Throbbers if you play all three rows in unison.
