Toilet tunes required!
« on: April 15, 2018, 11:34:37 AM »

Folk tune aficionados! Do you know any tunes related to toilets, toilet makers, toilet humour, pipework and ceramics?! Need to be suitable for Border Morris (hornpipe, reel, schottisches, 6/8 jigs).

My new side are wiring a dance to do with part of our local history (inventing the rim flushing toilet!) And we're in the market for a suitable tune!

I have read that the term "flowers of Edinburgh' is a reference to the once common practice of emptying the bedroom chamber pot into the street. Pedestrians had to dodge the euphemistic and fragrant 'flowers'. I have long suspected that 'Woodland Flowers' is a reference to the Silvian equivalent.

Oh, dear! What can the matter be?
Three *** ladies  stuck in a lavatory.

Political correction at your discretion. I thought "Three fat morrismen" then I wondered, should it be "morris persons"?

Jackie Daly plays a tune he calls "A Trip to the Jacks" (which Matt Cranitch euphemistically rechristened "The Brosna Slide", the name by which it is now commonly known).

Fiddler James Kelly seems to have a bit of a scatological obsession and has composed two reels, "Sitting on the Throne" and (ew) "Touching Cloth".

No idea whether any of these would be suitable for Border Morris but that doesn't seem to have held other posters back :)

PS I see Jimmy has taken a trip to the jacks while I was writing this  :|glug

Not quite what you were asking for, but only a slight drift, this company I did some contract work for, bio-med co. with rare sense of (toilet) humor.  See attached.  More on their site.
