Tunes on a new(ish) Loffet GeB
« on: May 02, 2018, 09:19:02 AM »

Hello all

I can't tell you how enormously pleased I am with my Loffet Graet e Breizh. I also can't tell you how sad I am about Bernard's passing. Only a couple of days before his untimely passing we had exchanged messages about meeting up on his planned trip to the UK. So sad.

This excellent instrument stands as a testament to Bernard's care, attention, craftsmanship and musicianship and will always be my 'special' instrument.

Here's a couple of tunes I recorded last weekend:

And here's a tune I recorded a couple of days after the news of Bernard's death in homage, I've posted this elsewhere but include it here as a renewed respect:

Regards

Lovely, Martin. You have a really subtle way of accenting notes that is surprisingly difficult to do consistently. Nice to see a Trio Dhoor tune as well; I haven't listened to that album in a while, might be time for a relisten!

I never got to know Bernard that well, but I did spend a good while bemoaning brexit with him and his wife a couple of years ago at Le Son Continu :D

Tunes I don't know but sound great on that new box Martin, and beautifully played as ever.
...and a lovely sentiment too.
thanks for sharing

I think I'm starting to get most of the notes in roughly the right order...... sometimes!

Fantastic, Martin. Lovely tunes, and lovely playing. And you managed to really capture the beauty of the instrument, something I have trouble doing with recordings. Thanks so much.
