Bonnets So Blue waltz
« on: May 08, 2018, 04:53:20 PM »

In John Kirkpatrick's "English Choice" tunebook and its accompanying CD "Garrick's Delight", he plays a waltz titled Bonnets So Blue. This is quite different from the familiar tune used for the Morris dance (which he has also played, on his Sheepskins record). The A part is quite reminiscent of "Man in the Moon", but the B part is different. You can almost tell that from the scansion that the lyrics of the B part must go "Bonnets so blue, bonnets so blue..."

I can find lots of recordings and videos of the familiar Morris Bonnets So Blue, so I haven't found another recording of this version. Has anyone heard this waltz version elsewhere? Does it go by a different name?
Hohner Pokerwork D/G, Hohner one row four stop in C, Hohner Pressed Wood C/F.
