Stockaryd: am I right in thinking that 'durspel' is a description of button accordions/melodeons as being incapable of playing in minor keys, which are important in Swedish traditional music, and which can of course be played on semitone boxes. For those who don't know Swedish, I believe that 'dur' when applied to music means 'major', while 'spel' means in this context something played ie an instrument

You’re right about the meaning of the word dur, but durspel really just means melodeon. So can play in a minor key as much as you might be able to play in a minor key on a DG..
Here’s a good ref to terms.

Sorry.
Do not want to break any rules.

Was impressed by the corners of Gessner's box. Every corner is there!!! and they seem to be made of brass. Homemade?

You're right, but. . . . .      Durspel is exactly the same as melodeon.
Just like you, we have many names for it in Sweden.

Durspel
Enradigt
tvåradigt
magdeburgare
bälgaspel
piglock
And I have heard other names that I cant remember now.     ;)

Those corners are perfectly normal on later instruments, and were used by Hohner on Gessner melodeons that they produced. They're shown in Hohner's Catalogue No. 700 of circa 1929-30.

Weeeeell,    normal but hard to get.      I have an even older Gessner.  With very few corners left.
I searched the internet for years and asked for corners like that.  No luck!

So  I let a firm produce/make    40 for me, and this week I got them.

Cost, . . . 300 pounds.    (3000 sek)

Ah, now I understand what you were getting at. My Gessner is a large torader, of an old model with plain bellows-frame corners on it.

But you'd want to be pretty committed/devoted to pay (what works out as) €7.30/£6.37 each for replacement corners... :(
