ABC Navigator2 and the dreaded Vista
« on: August 21, 2009, 10:42:57 AM »

Is anyone running ABC Navigator2 on Vista? I have had to buy a new PC ,which came with vista , but Navigator doesn't play the tune . I nitice from the home site that Vista is not mentioned and work on the product stopped in 2006. Is there a Vista alternative ?

Are you two saying that ABC Navigator2 runs on macs?

No, I didn't think you were. BTW, do we need a "smartarse" emoticon?   >:E

A client of mine has trouble at his office running software on Vista that works well on XP. He has Windoze 7 beta at home and says it is vastly better than Vista and solves many of the latter's problems. I think it's due out soon, might be worth a try...

I have no trouble running Navigator on Vista.  Try checking audio properties and whether you've selected a midi out device.

Quite.  Perhaps a round face with bow tie and vertical smile?

I think it's been mentioned on here before, that sometimes when ABC Navigator2 is closed, it mutes the midi playback device. I've had that happen, with XP. It's been necessary to open up the Volume Control panel and un-mute the midi playback device (eg SW Synth).
