Really small melodeon, hanging from a belt
« on: August 24, 2009, 01:08:22 PM »

I saw the Gloucestershire Morris Men perform the other night, and noticed one of the players was "wearing" what looked like a real but rather miniaturised melodeon. it had about 5 or 6 buttons in a single row, and was about 5 or 6 inches square from the front. He had it hanging from his belt. I didn't get chance to have a proper look or ask about it.

Does anyone know of such objects ? (You might be able to tell that I've got a bit of an "I want one of those" thing going on here!)

cheers,

Paul (happily in for sessions A2 and B1 at Whitney!)

I guess it was probably a Castagnari Mignon or Giordy, like this one:

A bit of impromptu 'entertainment' whilst waiting outside a venue in Norwich last night:

I have a Dino Bafetti the same size, but don't remember what it's called.

If you are cheap (like me) you will get one of the cheap Chinese plasticy toy melodeons, which are apprently reasonably playable. [If you're cheaper then you'll wait for someone to buy one for you as a joke present]

If you are less cheap then Dino Bafetti make one and if you want to spend lots of money then Casta do two. For insane prices.
