well I was gonna go to this one

I know I'm going to struggle with the beginners session....not confident on concertina...probably get lat and first note. But well...worth a try.

Your are welcome. Do you know what time the session in on and I will meet you there. I don't want you to feel under any pressure, if you change your mind thats fine.

I have one strap on at the moment do you need two? I have another if you would like two. Also I have accidentals at the chin end not low notes.

Oh Crikey, that's confused her! Have a little lie down LDT,  tiny didn't mean to tire your brain like that. Just forget you heard the word "accidentals" and it will all seem like a bad dream in the morning.  :-*

I know you meant well, but a trifle insensitive there our tiny.  ;D

Oh dear... there's me making a hash of Rees' great tune and desperately trying to remember Sheriff's Ride... and failing miserabley...

It was a great festival, only marred by the arsy staff in the Music Room tent. Didn't seem to want to be there, I never found them especially helpful, and they hardly ever smiled. I was having a go on a rather nice Dino Baffetti (one of the ex-Oakwood boxes) and one of them asked me if I like, which I said I did but could never afford it. His reply was "well maybe you should stop tempting yourself". Left me with a very nasty taste in my mouth and I didn't go back in for the rest of the weekend, other than to buy a clip on tuner very late on Monday afternoon. I've always found them very hostile; it was the same at Cropredy this year and the year before, and at Shrewsbury last year. The standard of stock is great, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. Not impressed at all.  >:(

Aw, come on, don't put yourself down, that was brilliant! Try playing it a fraction slower with a little more groove and it will be perfect. Well done.

Spotted in the ceilidh video - Jeannie Harris and Katie Howson hopping about (and pulling her pants up mid hop! - about 2.45 minutes in)

Great stuff.

Maybe you just caught one of them at a bad time but you have to sympathise with their circumstances and my experience with the Music Room staff has been quite the opposite.

I enjoyed a good chat with one of the assistants at the Music room in Shrewsbury, very friendly indeed.

I tried a Baffetti, maybe the very same one, at Sidmouth and I found the staff to be very helpful and most obliging. I'm interested in a G/C and I enquired about the possibility of a three voice Baffetti/Oakwood in G/C and Jon Loomes went over to the Oakwood stall, at a busy time, to ask Martyn Banks about it and get an idea of the price and I hadn't waved any cash in his face or said I'd definitely buy one.
I did a similar thing last year and this year at Towersey with the baffetti/oakwood binci reed box.I was looking at lightweight boxes with nice sound and good response. I stated that I couldn't buy there and then but asked to try. I wondered  if certain options were available like changing the bellows colour (it's important you know ::)) Anyway, I found the Music Room staff most helpful and I liked the box, still do, still saving !!

Cheers

Sandy

More videos to come..I can only fit 3 at a time on my memory stick to take to work and upload at lunch so..slow going. (here is link to playlist http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=5447902A181F3DC3).

I walked in looked longingly at the melodoens for while but no one noticed me, so I walked out again. No bother *shrug* I don't hold a grudge. they were rather busy...that tent wasn't big enough really.

But I'm used to that...I tend to be invisible to shop staff and always find going into music shops in general a little intimidating. (I always get a feeling I don't belong - I don't look like a melodeon/concertina player do I?). At least they didn't laugh at me like when I went to the Hobgoblin shop in London. I'd rather be ignored than laughed at.

On a more posative note.
I want to say thank you to Liz (Tiny) for letting me use her tommy, buying me a drink (even if I only had a sip) and letting me bounce ideas off her. I've actually had a chance to try some of your suggestions and they work well.  :D
