“A” reeds in Hohner HA114C?
« on: July 15, 2018, 04:39:45 AM »

Does anyone know if the reedblocks in a Hohner HA114 in C would be able to accept a set of A reeds? I realize that the A reedplates would be bigger, but I’m not sure how much so and whether or not it would be possible to modify them. Thanks.

I am away from my boxes till Thursday but will open the A box up and get some measurements than unless someone else chimes in.

I strongly suspect that the reed blocks are the same in all 114s irrespective of key, so you should be ok.

Just wanted to report back that this is NOT the case! I compared the reedblocks from my different HA114s and the lower pitched boxes, such as G and A, definitely have taller reedblocks than the D.
