reeds for old Hlavacek accordion will fit?
« on: August 08, 2018, 10:15:30 PM »

Hello all.  I am in the process of trying to get some replacement reeds for old Hlavacek accordions.  They all have the circle on the top of the plate which must be Dix reeds.  From the size chart for Harmonikas dix reeds, they seem to be about 2mm narrower than the old ones (15,4 compared to mine which are 17,4).  The size chart confuses me also cause the tone part (E-h, H-c1, etc.) I have no idea what these mean.  So if the Dix reeds are narrower, I would have to get other wider reeds, which will probably be too long.  I could put a thin piece of wood in the reed block to hold the dix reeds, but since they are on a leather pad on the block, their would be air leaks, and I fear the wood strip in the block would affect the sound.  Any ideas for help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
