Stephane Delicq: Rondeau des chiens battus, signs?
« on: August 09, 2018, 06:55:52 AM »

Hi,

can anyone tell me how the yellow ornamentation signs (~) in the sheet ought to be played? Are those simply trills or something completely different? There's an explanation in French, which I unfortunately don't understand. And I could not track down an original recording of the piece by Stephane to be able to figure it out by ear.

The French says: "You keep the same finger on the same button, but change the direction of the bellows." The symbols don't represent an ornamentation - they indicate the fingering, like the numbers. So, in bar 4, for example, the final d is played with a pulled 7 on the inner row, using the 4th finger, and the next e is played by simply keeping your finger on the same button and pushing.

The tune's from "Aquarelles", by the way.

(The tablature in the new "Receuil de musiques" shows the same pattern.)

Ah, makes sense! Thanks very much, Roger!

I know it's from Aquarelles, but I can't find a copy of the CD anywhere :-(

I think Marie Delicq might be able help there - she certainly has some cds. She has a facebook page/group for Her father's music.
