10 places left... new brochure goes out in about 3 weeks, so final 'not very secret' notice!

14-18 Oct 2019:
Anne Niepold & Riccardo Tesi Workshop Week at Halsway Manor

We are delighted to welcome two of Europe’s greatest exponents of the diatonic button accordion to teach this extended course at Halsway Manor for advanced, and advanced-intermediate players. Anne Niepold is a familiar name to many at Halsway, having been a regular tutor on our DG Melodeon Weekend and European Music Weekend. This will be Riccardo Tesi‘s first visit to Halsway, and a rare chance to study with him in the UK.

It will be an intensive week of skills-based learning focussing on your development as a musician, discovering new ways to interpret and play, and to make the music your own. There will also be an opportunity to see these two great musicians perform in an informal evening concert.

The group – limited to approximately 20 students – will be split in two by the tutors at the start of the course. This will be done according to ability level; if you are coming with friends this may mean you will be working in different groups. Each group will work in the main with one tutor, but there will be sessions where Anne and Riccardo swap groups, plus plenty of informal time to meet, chat and play with others.

Arrival is from noon on Monday, with lunch at 1pm, and we begin playing at 3pm!

Update!

Any more takers? This is a chance to work with two of Europe's finest players, and it's unlikely to be repeated in the UK (or anywhere else for that matter....)

It's for advanced and advanced-intermediate level players - there are guidelines on the event web page as to what this means that have been agreed with Anne & Riccardo. If you think you're not quite at that level, but are a motivated student, then get in touch with me to chat about it.

We'll be running two groups, one working at a faster pace, the other at a more considered pace. Each group will spend a roughly equal amount of time with each tutor ie mornings with Anne, afternoons with Riccardo and vice versa. There will be a tutors' concert on the Thursday evening which is open to all (Anne & Riccardo will also be touring the UK - details here: https://www.pauljames.eu/niepold-tesi).
