THE PHOENIX HORNPIPE  by DTN

A great tune Derek wrote in 2010 when his Mory came back to life after a smash.  I wish I could play standing and swaying  like he does.

Looks very interesting. Since this is the "Theme of the Month" post, I dare to ask: Are there any recordings of the tune? :^)
There will be, I only wrote it last night. Unless of course you want to save me the effort, and do one for me?

Particularly like the version of Clive's, Jack. Great sounding box too.

I was already knoodling on guitar with one of Jack's suggested tunes, so here is 'The First of June' by Anahata on a single row C melodeon which may also be suitable for 'morris dance' at this (gentle) pace. I managed a few (aged) steps while it was cooking!

Second time around for me on this tune from Sandy Shallis...hope it's an improvement over last time. Came to mind with the Armistice Memorials, and all unfortunates lost at sea.

A wonderful tune written by Jack Humphreys. Thank you for sharing this one, Jack.

I have been playing this song for a long time (basically since he posted it on the forum) but never got around to record it properly. Here it is now.

I have posted two tunes.....the first is a nice little waltz of my own composition entitled "Seventh" as I wrote it to encapsulate the lovely sound of major 7th chords.
The second is me playing Andy Cutting's lovely "Lola Flexen" from the Inventions album which I transposed into G and added chords. I hope you enjoy listening to both.

Here's a rough version of Up the Octave - really haven't got much time at the moment, so please excuse the one hit recording.

Straightforward playing and certainly nice to listen to. Thanks for sharing this one. I think it might end up in my "learn-one-day folder". ;-)

I too really enjoyed the two tunes from jikeym. I always enjoy seeing people play - so if you are using a video camera, do let us see the video too. I also understand if you're just using youtube for an edited audio recording, but I get so much more from videos.
Well played, and well composed.

Thankyou for those comments...😊....I appreciate completely about being able to watch people play. I didn’t have much time when I recorded them but i will endeavour to create a couple of vids for those tunes very soon !

I kept waiting for some else to post a video of "Bicycle Pump Polka" by Jan Anders Andersson, but no one has so here is a video I made a few years ago using a leaky old circa 1920s Hohner one row four stopper.

Peter (Airtime in this parish) has written a beautiful tune called the "Niagara Carol". Here is a video of it made several years ago with some harmony box.

Very sweet, Scott - I thought the soft focus was an editorial refinement until I read the description!

Now, sneaking in with three days left... (:) Here's a new tune of mine being given its first outing at Saturday's ceili in Montreal. Distinctly a ragged run-through, with pianist and fiddle-player basically sight-reading, and me evidently not quite on top of my own piece - please overlook the flaws & hope you like it.

La Valse des jours de pluie - a waltz for rainy days. (Recording starts in the middle - 0:32 marks the start of the tune proper.)

Very nice. The tune seems to keep spinning which is always a good sign.

I chose one of playandteach's tunes, Geordie Girl, as I like it a lot and I was humming it incessantly along the Roman wall. I suspect it has to do with the fact that I'm quite fond of the song Georgy Girl too.
I also thought it's a bit symbolic. While circumstances prevented us from meeting, they can't stop me from playing your tunes!

I'm sorry for the mistakes and shoddy rhythm in the video, but the end of the month left me no choice but to upload what I have.
Also I hope you don't mind the Eb chord I snuck in (would've been a Bb when playing on a G/C), as a little homage to Georgy Girl.
Regarding all other deviations from the original - if it sounds bad, it's an accident, if it sounds good - it's on purpose :D
