Pictures displaying the wrong way up....
« on: November 04, 2018, 03:00:13 PM »

Sometimes photos taken on an iPhone or iPad don't display the right way up. It's a long story but to fix it you need to edit meta data on the image (called EXiF data). I found an online editor that actually works...it is here:
https://www.thexifer.net/
After fighting for a couple of hours with some images that showed the thumbnail the right way up but zoomed image upside down, or vice versa if I went into a photo program and simply changed the orientation, I discovered that Apple hardware screws with the EXIF data associated with an image, and using an ordinary photo editor does not solve the problem.
Using an EXIF editor you can set the orientation to 'none' (or normal or whatever) and this solved my problem. I was uploading into Wordpress and it was a right pain.. I tried exporting to bmp and back, a rotation fixing Wordpress plugin, none of which worked. In the end I had to find a way to access the meta data on the image, and that's where this editor comes in. Hope this helps and prevents you wasting loads of time. (:)
