True story and question arising
« on: December 04, 2018, 05:16:34 AM »

Just finished with the police after being awoken at midnight by a burglar walking into my bedroom (they caught him). He took various things but didn't steal a single melodeon, having actually moved one to search a cupboard.
My question: should I be relieved or mortally offended?

Perhaps he plays a PA?
He deserves to be locked up.

Are you ok otherwise?

strewth Andrew, that must have been an awful shock.
….fancy leaving all those melodeons  ;D

Seriously, it must have been a traumatic thing, and I'm glad the Police got the person concerned.
It would greatly upset me to have such an experience, and as Pete says, I hope you are ok.

I think I'm starting to get most of the notes in roughly the right order...... sometimes!

Police were great - here within ten minutes with dogs, which found my wallet (empty, alas). Two out of three stolen bikes were recovered within the hour, along with the miscreants.  I didn't feel like going back to bed but used the time profitably to reattach a couple of loose pads.

I was just wondering if perhaps there were two Andrew Kennedys in the melodeon community before leaving a comment that could possibly have been misconstrued but on the strength of this I can be pretty sure there are not.

Glad you (and the melodeons) are OK after this.  Hope the Lilly is doing rather better than when I last saw it.

Just be thankful they did not leave a couple more behind as in the ancient joke.

Elderly amateur musician hoping to stave off dementia by learning to play the melodeon.  Main instrument a Tommy, also D/G and G/C pokerworks,  a single row 2 stop Hohner, and a new addition to the free reedery, a rather splendid Paolo Soprani four voice 120 bass c-system chromatic button accordion.  Very shiny, very loud, and about the same size and weight as a small car.  Now I’ve traded me Benny with (ahem) a cash adjustment, to a three voice 60 bass Castagnari K3.

Lilly still awaiting new bellows. There seems to be some suspicion that the chosen supplier (Castagnari's own) might have gone bust. I have suggested trying an alternative and am awaiting a response.

"Just be careful...etc": you've just provided me with the ideal excuse for Mrs. Kennedy (and a line for Helena to try).

Shame, sorry to hear that. It is a lovely box.  Mine too has been suffering, mostly from rough treatment from me, and is currently in the Wendover home for poorly melodeons aka Lester's shed.

Andrew, given the awful things we hear of happening during disturbed robberies, I would suggest outraged but undamaged is probably as good as it gets under such circumstances.

Police response time and effectiveness suggests you may not be a rural dweller either.....................
