Maestro D/G
« on: December 20, 2018, 04:57:51 PM »

Maestro D/G Melodeon, made in Italy, 3vce, 3 treble, 1bass stops

Have reserved this lovely old box in Hobgoblin.  Very easy to play and a lively sound.

I know nothing about this make.  Anyone got any opinions?

I remember those! They're a Saltarelle Nuage clone commissioned by Dave Mallinson in the mid 90s I think.

Looks very much like a Serenellini to me, Salterelle don't actually make any boxes.

Here's a picture of my 'Primo' made for 'Sounds Interesting' which later became the Music Room in Cleckheaton. I remember Martyn Banks of Oakwood Instruments making the Primo logos to go on the fronts of the unbadged boxes made for him by Serenellini. The only difference between my Primo and your Maestro is the keyboard, yours is flat and mine is stepped.

You are right - I've checked my emails.

Clive suggested it might be a Saltarelle Nuage clone commissioned by Dave Mallinson in the 90s.

I emailed Mally and he replied

"Yes, I had the Maestro melodeons made by Serellenini in the 90s, they were never meant to be a Nuage clone."

Mystery solved.    I have to say I love the box - there's something special about the ease of playing, nice well used bellows and variety of sounds with the three stops.

Theo is selling (Nov 2019) a Serellinini Cloud 233 which has an identical layout and stops. Just one variation. The low note button on the G row is B/C on his and B/E on my Maestro.   It seems the Maestro is a variant of the Cloud 233.

There are other differences.  Your Maestro has a flat keyboard, my Serenellini has mushroom buttons.  The finish is different too.
