Another contradiction, or rather I suppose I should say, differing schools of thought is regarding basses.

One might say don't neglect the basses and use them straightaway, whereas another would say forget the basses until you have mastered playing all the tunes.

I realise that some ITM sessions may have no bass at all and this might even be the sole domain of the guitar player if there is one. I know of some B/C box players who have disabled and even removed the basses. Whereas there are others B/C players who make absolute full use and more of the left hand.

(I say "and more" because they are seemingly playing bass notes that I know aren't there but it sounds just fine. But that's another subject.)

I see the advantages of both ways.
