Hohner anchor emblem
« on: January 06, 2019, 06:07:01 PM »

I've got an old 114 which bears the anchor emblem which Hohner acquired when they took over Imperial (I've got a 1-row one of those with an anchor, too).  Does anybody know when Hohner stopped using this?  It's certainly not on my Chinese Erica.  I thought the information might help me date my instrument, which was in a very battered condition when I bought it from a market stall in the Glasgow Barras mid-1980s (twenty-five quid, my first melodeon).

There are other clues which might be useful when attempting to date your HA114. For example: Keyboard: wood or plastic. End plates: silver or gold?

Keyboard is plastic, endplates silver.

Another clue is reeds. Oldest would be zinc plate marked H, next aluminium plate marked H, latest aluminium plate marked T.  I don’t have dates for any of the transitions, and it’s not unusual to find a mix of different reed types as original fittings.
