williams 2 row accordion
« on: January 10, 2019, 11:57:52 AM »

Hi folks, someone sent me a picture of a small diatonic accordion, 2 rows, 8 basses, looks nice but relatively cheaply made (Chinese?). Logo: Williams.  I suspect it could be Irish tuned. The owner inherited it, wants to get rid of it and asked for my opinion. I haven't come across it before and am wondering if it rings a bell somewhere. Thanks!

There are references on the web to an American "Irish" accordion player - John Williams including some old videos.  The logo looks like a signature so I throw this out.

John Williams is a distributor of some kind for Saltarelle* so I don't think this has anything to do with him. The box looks very like a made-in-China Cairdin clone, several examples of which I saw a few years ago, though I'm sure the name was something other than Williams.

* melodeon (Jeff) you can spare us your usual comments on this subject - thanks :|glug

Yes, a Chinese made instrument. I once saw one somewhere or other in the flesh.
