New Leveret cd!
« on: January 15, 2019, 05:15:41 PM »

Just had this ping into my inbox
http://rootbeatrecords.com/leveret?mc_cid=f71c464ba8&mc_eid=b720e87fdc

Apparenetly digging into old manuscripts again as opposed to writing new stuff.
I'm excited about that  (:)
Just pre-ordered  ;)
cheers

I think I'm starting to get most of the notes in roughly the right order...... sometimes!

Great ! I'm already looking forward to more tunes for me to 'learn' and fail to play well... ::)
Seriously, I'm sure it'll be as fantastic as their previous cds.  (:)

Hi Greg,
Yes thought it would catch your attention too.
What really excites me is that one of our top groups is deciding to dig into the manuscripts, re-discover and play those tunes.

Something Julian and I have agreed on previously, re-discovering our musical past is wonderful, as we three are discovering with the Buttrey MS. Letting the world know that we actually *have* a musical past and that it is a very rich heritage by Leveret advertising the fact through their cd's is good in my book. Plus it shows us as players what's out there and where to look.
Win-win situation all round for me, and I expect it'll be a great cd to simply listen to as well.
All good  (:)

My copy made it to Bavaria today. "The Wounded Hazzar" (track 4) is absolutely beautiful.

There are some truly excellent tracks - the real challenge for me is deciding which to learn first - not that I will ever match their talent in bringing tunes to life.

It arrived today and - holy moly - is it a great album. Very much looking forward to try out playing to their recordings and fail miserably. :D

My copy arrived same day as Q's, already learned the first two tunes now working on Molly apple pie, Drunken Barnaby and Cuckolds.

Hessian Camp has become my latest ear worm -I have just had to have an extended Lounge Bar session to drive it out !
Now I wonder which tunes they'll teach at the Halsway Leveret weekend... ::)

Just listened to it.
Rob and Sam played a track live, as Andy's touring in France.
I thought it was a good interview, touching on their teaching of young musicians, and that all the music was from English manuscripts. Also discussed their approach to tunes, the fact they play them to get into the tune rather than arrange them.
Nice little advert for English traditional music!

Just back from Edinburgh with the new CD after an excellent concert in Edinburgh last night.
Some interesting variants of tunes on the new CD . Track 1 - The Bull Ring from William Winter sounds like a variant of "Long Odds" and  the B part of Ellis Knowles No 7 sounds like a variant of the Coleford Jig.

Next stop on the Leveret Tour  - Cornwall on Thursday you lucky people.
