Good man!

Let me know how you get on tonight.

I live on the Isle of Skye It's getting towards minus 10 here tonight but not enough snow to dig into. Just enough to make the township road into a bob-sleigh run and we haven't seen a grit lorry for three days.

I will test the tent tomorrow. I don't expect to arrive at Bretforton till about 9pm on Friday and if I have a problem pitching tent in the dark I will just put my bedroll out in the back of the estate and sort the tent in the morning. Either way -camp stove fry up or  breakfast out of the pub on the Saturday morning.

Skye? I'm very jealous - beautiful place, so beautiful. I think it was about 0, -1 at worst, here in rural Somerset. There were certainly ice crystals on the inside of the tent. I survived. Bit cold but ok.

I'm back inside now, with a hot drink to warm me up. Enjoyed it, though!

Any other tips for cold weather camping? You sound like you know what you're doing!

Heh - given where you come from, your comment about midgies now makes perfect sense. Wretched things!

It sounds like you'll be fine. Keeping the next days clothes wrapped in a plastic bag till you need them stops them getting damp in the tent and if there's a hot shower available in the morning so much the better.

Anyway you have road tested the tent in the winter...anything else will be a doddle.

I admire your dedication guys, you should have just received the final pre-playgroup information e-mail.  We'll have hot coffee on standby....

So where's everyone else staying? Premier Inn means no nice beer and there's only one room at the pub. Does everyone else have campervans, then?

There will be a couple of campervans but most of us stay at the Premier Inn. The pubby-restauranty thing next door is not bad. Decent food and serviceable beer but phenomenal breakfasts. Most of us stay at the PI but spend all day at the Fleece and eat and drink there, aside from the Sunday breakfast.

The Sunday breakfast is a Playgroup legend in its own right. We get the biggest table possible and attack the buffet breakfast, some playgroupers drop out and others arrive to take their place. Some stay and go round the buffet again.

The secret is to book as soon as the dates are announced, the rates are seriously cheap then but I can see  that now they are much, much higher.

That must be winter Morris dress, I take it, did any make it out alive?

There is only five, so one must have perished.

He's probably taking the picture, but where's the musician?

Sadly no showers, say the pub, but I'm sure we'll be fine. See you there!

Pretty much that. Taylor's Morris spent a summer weekend camping in the Fleece orchard when we danced at the Cotswold Olimpicks. None of us smelt too bad. I don't think.  If you're really posh go for a wash down in  the disabled loo.

Indeed and on Saturday morning the Fleece will do you a lovely breakfast. Certainly not the cheapest option but excellent quality and highly recommended.
