Yellow Pearloid Hohner
« on: February 17, 2019, 08:09:54 AM »

Morning all. Can someone tell me more about the Hohner CF model currently on sale at Hobgoblin, described without a model name, with yellow pearloid finish? I'm looking for a CF box (obviously!)

THIS one I assume? If it is the one they had in stock in London, and it looks like it is, I nearly weaken and bought it once.

Pros, looks and sounds fabulous
Cons, weighs as much as a small wardrobe

Yes I nearly bought one of these on German E Bay, they are lovely boxes, but I'm pretty sure I didn't because it's a club system, and for my use would need revision, costing more than I could afford,

Definitely originally club system, can't remember if it had been converted

Rather than "Yellow" pearloid  I think this is aged white pearloid,  over the years the white finish develops a lovely rich honey coloured patina, that, on Vintage Drums, is highly prized.

May be an exceptional instrument! I have a Hohner of similar quality that I'd consider selling, but it's in the US.  Mine is 4 voice, with fewer buttons in the helper row and more basses, and in BbEb. It's a wonderful instrument with the fancy 1930s aluminum-frame "HOHNER GERMANY" reeds, and factory original A 440. Despite its size it handles beautifully. Mine and similar 4 voice models were discussed here:

I have a similar one, Bb/EB, ten basses, club tuning, helicon basses. It's gorgeous to play.

I've played that box too, and can confirm the weighty nature. Unfortunately don't remember any further details, I'm afraid.
