Roland...

I checked your channel uploads and cannot find it either.  Maybe YT  housecleaning inadvertently swept it up..

Thanks...try again now, I think it should work  :D

My version of a tune that I learnt from Phil Taylor, my hammer dulcimer playing friend, called Trip to Pakistan written by Niall Kenny.
Nice one Hugh. Good to see you posting. ;)

as it seems ok to resurect previously played tunes  the only you tube I ever made using bog standard laptop camera and microphone was stronsey waltz and rope waltz  played on a hohner 3 voice trichord in need of fettling.  I was not playing it left handed for some reason the laptop camera got it cack to front so to speak.  youtube george garside melodeon should bring it up

Thanks for the link, but I am slightly amazed that there are only 2 videos of you playing. Is it time to get back on the horse?

Here's one of the three tunes that brought me to melnet in the first place: Polperro Bay, Mrs Saggs and The Abbess. At the time I only knew a handful of morris tunes and I went browsing for slow tunes, looking for contrast.  I found these three and (eventually) realised they all came from here..

I am particularly drawn to this tune because I only live about three miles  from Polperro.

Here's Polperro Bay, played a tad slower than I usually play it. I was trying my hardest to keep the overall tempo steady and avoid rushing certain phrases. I only partially succeeded, but that's recording yourself for you. It got better after a couple of takes. That's why I find it such a useful exercise. Sorry it's still Soundcloud, but I promise I'm working on it.

Of course, your 'home tune'!
I love the sound you've got there.
Nice one!

Thanks Q and FC.  It's played on my 4th button start, but otherwise bog standard Chinese pokerwork which has a low B and C and a low D reversal. I had those notes added just so I could play these tunes.

Greg, some of those bass notes were absolutely lovely. I don't think I've ever heard lower on a melodeon. A delight, indeed!

Greg - Polperro Bay - great ! I half know the tune, but not the title. I must get round to learning the other half...
And thanks for the comments about my offerings. Much appreciated.

Thanks everyone - some great tunes here, which I fully intend to plunder for repertoire!

Here's my effort this month

https://youtu.be/iopTX25xdW0

Grind Hans Jässpôdspolska - also known as CEG of course, courtesy of Andy Cutting's version.

This is a wedding polska from Sweden, traditional but played by/collected from Petters Erik Eriksson. I'm playing it slower than normal, and probably with a few extra beats here and there, so whether it is still truly a polska is debatable. Good job I'm doing it on a 'slow tunes' month and not a 'polska' one, eh?

Edit: I forgot to say that I was rather inspired by the Danish String Quartet version, which is just exquisite.

Played on a Castagnari Mory in D/G

Cheers,

Clive

The Skye Boat Song (I think it passes as a slow tune)
https://youtu.be/Vql7vnUzfqQ

This must be the earliest in the month I have ever posted :D

A small note: In the 6th bar of the B part, I play a G Bass (for a Gm harmony) even though a Eb bass would sound much better. As I had very inconsistent results air-wise using Eb (6 bars on the push :'(), I opted for a consistent compromise instead.

Do you have a Hohner from 1934-1945 with a serial number on?
