And of course, down in deepest Norfolk, there's a little chain ferry across the River Yare. Locals have been campaigning for years to get the charge removed for village residents. Then it would be Free Reedham.

Several years ago Tony Hall sent me a photo of a removals vehicle that he hard happened to see belonging to a man called Reed.  The logo on the van - “REED REMOVALS”

I don't want to cause any dischord, but I did use to live near Bedlam. I don't recall there being other melodeon players nearby...however Dennis Crowther (of blessed memory) did make up for it !

I'd imagine Dry Dodington is a Hohner no-go area.

I'd imagine Dry Dodington is a Hohner no-go area.

Whilst the residents of Wetwang (in Yorkshire) have chucked theirs out.

I've heard it said that, it takes a village, to call a village full of melodeon players! :||:

Just as well his name wasn’t Tooth.

Elderly amateur musician hoping to stave off dementia by learning to play the melodeon.  Main instrument a Tommy, also D/G and G/C pokerworks,  a single row 2 stop Hohner, and a new addition to the free reedery, a rather splendid Paolo Soprani four voice 120 bass c-system chromatic button accordion.  Very shiny, very loud, and about the same size and weight as a small car.  Now I’ve traded me Benny with (ahem) a cash adjustment, to a three voice 60 bass Castagnari K3.

Not a village, but for views and fresh air I recommend Box Hill in Surrey

Here, Village!

Very subtle.... Fred - the point busbox is making is that in English, unlike other European languages (French comment, German wie, Italian come, etc.), you say "What do you call something", not "how".

Not only European, it's the same in Hebrew, so it passed over my head as well...

I've been trying to remember things like this and like when to use in/on/at for at least two decades, no success so far  :(

Do you have a Hohner from 1934-1945 with a serial number on?
Send me a private message or comment on the German Accordion Problem spreadsheet to improve the statistics of the project and get an estimate of the production date of the box if it is not known.

It's hilarious to see how this thread (which was started because of a brainfart of mine) has evolved. :D

Reminds me of when I'd spill my beer on the floor.  It'd go every which way.
