Last night we had a successful  evening at Pill Memorial club with 14  of us present .
A good range of tunes played in addition to those mentioned before ;  Salmon tails,  Fanny Power,  Oyster girl,  perfect cure,  Starry night for a ramble,  Sweets of May,  Michael Turner's waltz  and South wind  plus several that I can't recall.
We look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday September  17th.
Cheers John.

Here is a gentle reminder that September 17th being the third Tuesday of the month we have booked the upstairs bar at Pill Memorial club BS200DH for anyone who would like to join us, all acoustic instruments welcome but especially melodeons.
Read back to see tunes we have played,  for those who want some "structure " I suggest we start with Kelso accordion and fiddle club,  then Uncle Bernard's set,  many of our players are Jill Elliot's students,  her website has the dots for most everything we'll play ;
  www.  www.fiddlelessons.co.uk   tunes index.
No parking restrictions at present and it's free! See you at 8pm.
Cheers John.

Hi - this sounds interesting.  Any chance of someone posting a short video clip on YouTube so that one might assess just how slow and steady the playing is?   I go along to the monthly Thornbury session where the pace is often a little brisk for me!

Hi Eggy
Please would you post details of the Thornbury session you mentioned, e.g. place, dates, and type of music played.  Thanks, I'll be grateful.
(I expect you already know about the English sessions in Bath and Bradford-on-Avon    https://concertina.info/wordpress/  )

Pill  Memorial club upstairs long bar is booked exclusively for the playing of well known tunes by those intimidated by virtuosi/virtuosos  playing at mach 2.
All melody instruments are welcome to join us at 8pm on Tuesday  January the 21st , (melodeons are even more welcome! )
Look at previous posts for typical tunes, for definite we start with Kelso fiddle and accordion club,  a very melodeon friendly tune,  then Tip top polka,  ditto,  then your choice.
The event is free as is car parking which is ample. BS200DH gets you close,  the X4 bus from Bristol stops at the door.
You are expected to respect the club's hospitality by buying yourself a drink!
It would be great to see some new faces, cheers John.

Corrected  post code nearest is BS200DH

NO Well known tunes this month!
« Reply #30 on: March 11, 2020, 10:55:38 PM »

Pill Memorial club was booked for Tuesday 17th as per usual but,  that is St Patrick's day,  most of us are committed to St Patrick's day functions in particular Irish Set dancing at  "The Sirens Calling " in Portishead so we have decided not to hold the session this month,  hope to see you as usual on the 3rd Tuesday of April viruses permitting.
Cheers John.

NO Well known tunes this month! Either!
« Reply #31 on: April 13, 2020, 12:45:06 PM »

Well St Patrick's day events were cancelled,  as you can guess it would be far too soon this month and the club is closed anyway.
When the Pill Memorial club reopens I will post on here.
Keep safe, practice at home! Cheers John.
