In the 1970s I played (and danced) for the Beaux of London City.
In the 1980s I was with Bedford Morris.
In the 1990s I was with Manchester Morris.

(This ignores brief sojourns with Stockport and Winster).

Here are three tunes which for me typify my time with each side.

The Rose https://youtu.be/WVovMbwaTM4
The Quaker https://youtu.be/JMwaxwtrUdE
Mossley https://youtu.be/63yRawsH5Ww (A set of tunes in order for the dance but not with the correct number of repeats).

That's a lovely idea and even better playing...I might have to do the same if time allows... :|glug

Winster Gallop -air an seann-bhocsa.

Winster Gallop on the old Antoria 3 stop. As takes go it is the best of a bad lot. I skipped the basses on this one, which helped. The tune needs more work - much more work (and so do the bass valves). However I haven't time for either right now.

Yes, nicely done Jesse. Good rhythm and interesting ornaments. Not really a clanger, just a quiet moment.

I'm in complete agreement with this and I enjoyed the performance immensely Jesse. The steady tempo brought out the best in the tune, whatever you are doing, keep on doing it!

Thanks, Pete and Pete. ;D  My annoyance with the obvious imperfections is directly proportional with my pleasure at seeing things come together from continual listening and practicing. This one I will definitely keep working on and eventually get the tempo up a bit as well.

Wonderful stuff, Mitch; Mossley is a veritable "name that tune" medley of Morris hits.

There is absolutely no 'rule' that says the bases have to be played for the duration of a tune or indeed even for part of it  anad as you have found skipping the basses can sometimes help by giving a bit of time to get the melody sorted.    Keeping the bellows  nearer to closed  where possible  can facilitate crisp bellows reversals/note changes

Keep up the good work!

Smiffs do the original Upton dance -- with a few minor changes, because morris is a living tradition -- to what I believe is the original tune, Brighton Camp a.k.a. "The Girl I left behind me". Except there's a third part to the tune for the turn and stepping after the clashing, don't know where that came from but we've used it for at least 40 years so it's definitely traditional now...

One of my all-time favourites -- Sweet Jenny Jones, Smiffs version:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhqHBigE3ZE

Bonus points to anyone who can figure out which iconic film theme the bass end rhythm in the chorus starting at 2:40 came from... ;-)

And one last one before leaving for Chippenham to play with The Committee Band -- Collier's rant:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OQWRDUKiz0

Started off as Raglan, didn't like the tune so I put in Smash the Windows which transformed it, then we dropped Raglan and wrote a new Longborough-style dance around the chorus but the tune didn't quite fit, not enough time for the backsteps. "If only we could find a tune with one extra beat in the B music" -- aha, sez I. And why not make a line of 8 with two musicians...

Fantastic tune for the dance, really lifts the dancers and fits the style perfectly. Proud of this one :-)

Not quite sure but maybe it's the Miss Marple theme?  ;D
Definitely lovely to watch the dancing and fun that was had.

I'm with you on this one. Sword isn't morris. Having said that I was so impressed by Green Man Sword (?) singing "Collier Lads" (aka Byker Hill and Walker Shore).

Small point of order (and I hope others will excuse the thread drift in the interests of accuracy)  - that was North British Sword and not Green Man Sword that danced at the party you came to Peadar.

That’s a great old sound from your Antoria, reminds me of a melodeon I once had with one bank of reeds tuned a ‘fifth’ apart.
