F/Bb
« on: May 13, 2019, 04:22:46 PM »

I see this tuning mentioned on the melnet layouts page, but I've never seen one.
Why have I not seen one, and why haven't I got one?

Its quite rare among older Hohners.  The only modern instrument I've seen in action in FBb was in the hands of Bernard Loffet which he used in a duo with a clarinet player.

Oh Rees, don't do that to me. I am broke. Might stretch to a set of reeds, I have a couple of donor bodies (Hohner)

Sir John; Theo also has one, which he played beautifully at the "Tutor's Concert" at Wensleydale on Saturday night. It sounded gorgeous! (Unless someone snapped it up?)

It's the Bb aspect that attracts me, as it's my favourite key for singing, and although I have 2 Bb/Eb boxes, having Bb as the home key would be that bit more comfortable.

Here's a proper link to the Paolo Soprani.

That model is highly sought after in Ireland. Pity about the stepped keyboard though..

F/Bb sounds great with the Lachenal voice on Streb.  Has a real grunt to it.  :M
