The Morgan Rattler
« on: June 19, 2019, 12:39:03 PM »

I have been meaning to learn this 48 Bar jig ever since I heard a version played by Allan Yn Y Fan , Welsh band years ago.

He's quite a nice version by James Delarre on fiddle, but check out othe other versions on YouTube

or this - played a bit quicker..

The version which set me off.. Allan Yn Y Fan

Yes its a great tune, with lots of versions from all round the country. A friend plays an Irish version in two parts.
Interestingly, the main difference between all the different versions is in the second part, the first and third parts being fairly consistent. Tumbling Tom play a version from Wigton in Cumbria from the Rooke mss.

It's an old tune. It was in my selection of Butterey tunes and I did some research.
