Farewell eborfiddler

I’m sorry to inform you that eborfiddler, real name Chris Brownbridge, sadly passed away on Tuesday this week. Chris was a fundamental part of the York and Yorkshire folk scene since the 1960s, a dancer, singer, musician, gentleman and gentle man, and a good friend to many .

His funeral service is at Heslington Church, York, YO10 5EE  at 1:30pm on Wednesday 7th August.

Sad news.  I swapped tunes with him now and again through messages and emails.  A lovely chap, even though I never met him in person.  Please convey my condolences to his family and friends.

I got to know him well over the many years that he enthusiastically took part in my sessions at Whitby folk week.  A sad loss indeed!

I can't think of anything helpful to say that hasn't already been said well, so I'll break my fast of melodeon playing and play a tune tonight in his memory.

Very sad news, but thanks for letting us know, Pikey.

Chris was a lovely chap, who never had a bad word for anyone and who had a passionate enthusiasm for playing his melodeon and fiddle. I had the privilege of playing with him on many occasions over the years and will miss his gentle humour, his musicianship and the infectious enjoyment he displayed in sessions and workshops.
