Should the Pressed wood Fingerboards be unpainted?
Oh and it's Pressed Wood not Prestwood

When I lived in UK my dentist was in Prestwood..........

Pete, it's a big improvement, easier to find what you have, consistent descriptions.  Good job!

I think this is a significant improvement, and having some way to message the layout of instruments makes a lot of sense for Pete since he mostly seems to deal with new instruments. It allows for a much greater understanding of the range of instruments, and especially the ones you have on hand, too. For example, I didn't even know there was a 12 bass 1914 (although those accidentals on the GC diagram seem a little strange, no C#?).

I guess the main pitfall of providing information is the huge task of ensuring it's all definitely correct.

edit across the board generally there's a lot of pull Fs but not a lot of pull G#s which seems strange, too, is that not normally the case that *both* plates are the 'other' way around?
Also, the D-row chin end accidentals are mostly shown as G/Bb but they should be G#/Bb.
I imagine Steve would know but it seems odd to me!

Pete, I really like your new website.
A very quick scoot around at a couple of boxes and I see it includes the keyboard layout and more detail about the design of voices etc. Nice touch.
Well done matey!

That's a very interesting development! I wonder if that change will prove popular - I imagine it must be quite the task for whomever is product manager for Castagnari's melodeons.

In any case, best of luck getting all of the layout problems sorted.

Looks nice, but the Instruments and Information tabs don’t work on my iPad, in either landscape or portrait orientation. Other tabs work OK.

This should now work, please let me know if still a problem
Sorry, tabs still working on iPad.

Great stuff Pete! Well done.  (:)  :|glug

Just one thing I've noticed so far:
For the two-row D/G layouts, the G-row chin end accidentals are shown as F/Eb. My understanding is that the default Castagnari set-up is Eb/F. But perhaps something has changed?

Also, the D-row chin end accidentals are mostly shown as G/Bb but they should be G#/Bb.

Thanks Steve, Michael took them off Castagnaris web site, and I didn't check those details.,they will be sorted shortly

Looks like you've now corrected most of them  (:)

Just a couple need correcting now, as far as I can see:
1. Stephania D/G layout. Half row says G/Bb and F/Eb. Should be G#/Bb and Eb/F
2. 1914 D/G layout. Half row F/Eb should be Eb/F

Also:
3. 1914 G/C layout. Half row says Eb/G# and G#/Bb, as on Castagnari website.
I think this is a mistake on Castagnari's part and should read Eb/C# and G#/Bb. It's silly having two G#s and no C#. Worth querying with Castagnari perhaps?

Nice site, Pete.

Look at Pre Loved Instruments - Castagnari Chromatic K3 ( https://www.acorninstruments.co.uk/listing.cfm?inst=163 )
Site says 72 bass, I think it should be 60 bass buttons ...

Psst I think it's supposed to be Bb/G#, not G#/Bb, so both plates are reversed from eg hohners rather than just one.

Not necessarily. The Bb/G# accidental is a moveable feast from Castagnari. It can be either way round, depending how the reeds come with the scribed diagonal from the maker (Voci Armoniche).

My Mory and 1914 boxes both have it as Bb/G#, but my wife's Laura is G#/Bb. A Sander which I owned some years ago was also G#/Bb. I marginally prefer the Bb on the push as it enables me to play more easily in G minor (not something I do regularly, I hasten to point out).

By contrast, the Eb/F accidental is almost always that way round as standard from the Castagnari factory (the opposite way from Hohners). It enables you to play a D# (=Eb) on the push with a left-hand B chord.

Poor Pete will be wishing he hadn't asked.

Or course it could all be a plot to get us to buy more melodeons... who knows?

Subtle marketing ploy

With this I just turned things over to my tech guy,he refuses to let me anywhere near it,as you can see it has been a big task so things are not going to be always spot on and I do appreciate the assistance from you all  Thanks

New bits added, couplers and voice change levers and switches now explained

Pete, the addition of couples and voice change levers for those that have them is excellent. Not seen that anywhere before.
It really helps to understand what the more complex melodeons are capable of.
Well done!

Sorry, tabs still working on iPad.

It looks like the "Instrument" and "Information" tabs are the only ones with drop down menus.  If you do a long press on them the drop down menus appear. (you also get the "Copy, Look up, Share" menu at the same time.)
With a short tap it looks like they're not responding.

Howard’s post explains something I thought was a problem when using an iPad. I assumed that the Instruments and Information items weren’t yet working. It never occurred to me to keep them pressed on get the drop down. I don’t recall having to do this on any other website.

I also found it strange that in portrait mode I got a Show Menu item that gives a 14 item drop down (without having to keep it pressed), but in landscape mode I got a 7 item Menu bar, 2 of which didn’t seem to work, whereas on an iPhone I got the Show Menu item and 14 item drop down in both landscape and portrait modes.

I’ve just given it a spin.  I couldn’t get these buttons to work on my iPad either.  I have just upgraded to the latest iOS.  It’s...  errrmm..  version 12.4.  Hope this helps.

Hi,
We are working on ipad problem.

Michael [my tech guy] says should work in portrait mode on all but the largest ipads.

We are also trying to get things sorted for Whitby Folk Week,me with the stall and Michael is the sound engineer at the Coliseum, so my appologies but it may take a short while to sort it
