Couldn't resist recording this - and managing not to go into The Hogmanay...
Mrs Grace Bowie, learned from the great New Victory Band LP 'One More Dance and Then' thirty-odd years ago.

Update: Followed Baz's link to the cd 'One More Dance and Then....' by The New Victory Band and took the plunge.
Currently listening to it now. It really is a great cd, and sounds really fresh to my ears.
As ever it takes me the odd decade or two to catch up. Such is life in Devon.
Thanks Baz for reminding me (:)

Ah Julian's just posted. Make that 3 decades.....  ::)

I should have recorded Mrs Grace Bowie on my Pokerwork - I must have driven my housemates mad by constant repetitions of the LP when I learned all the tunes by ear, on my first box. I even remember playing the tunes at the University Folk Club - forty years ago. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be !

I would count New Victory Band along with Old Swan and Flowers and Frolics as my top three groups which made me love traditional dance music all those years ago.

( sigh.... 4 decades ago.....  ::) )
I knew Old Swan and Flowers, as we always seemed to be at the same festivals together, and became good friends, but I never encountered New Victory Band except by reputation.
After listening today, I understand why they make up the third pillar of the Trinity of lp's.
Good stuff tis....

Here's a jig by Rob Harbron (aka the Devil Incarnate): Down To The  Beach from Leveret's CD, Inventions
https://soundcloud.com/greg-bradfield-smith/down-to-the-beach-take-1
It's the first take I managed to get through without falling of the tune (actually, it's the first time, ever, I managed to play it all the way through).

It sounds like a simple little tune, but I found it extrordinary to  learn because of it's quirky structure.

It's mostly in 6/8, but some bars are in 9/8.
The A Part has 5 bars (twice through)
The B Part has 9 bars (twice through)
The C Part has 13 bars (I do it once through, Leveret do it twice)
The B and C Parts contain a lot of shared phrases arranged in different sequences.

It's a bugger to learn and play. But, I like it.

It's not my steadiest performance, I was going to have another bash,  but I've got a shower to fit, so I'll let it stand.

Wow, Mr Bradfield-Smith, that was a bold move to learn and post this one. I really like that you went through with it though and am happy that you managed to record such a nice tune. Well done and chapeau!

Thank you Fred. Comment really appreciated.
I love Leveret, but the tunes are never as simple as they sound.

Up to your usual high standard, and very enjoyable. I haven't played for ages, but I might just pick it up again.

I’ve always liked these.  A bit of a challenge- but possible!

Here's a very late addition. I didn't care for either the tune or theme of the current month but I wanted to record something this month anyway, so I figured I'd post it to the most appropriate old Theme of the Month.

Here is Sick and Very Bad, a slip jig from the the William Vickers manuscripts of 1770 in Northumberland. I think the title is very evocative and the tune appropriately queasy-sounding and off-kilter. I learned this off of John Kirkpatrick's "English Choice" tunebook, and should credit him for the arrangement.
