Nick Flynn
« on: September 25, 2019, 11:33:12 PM »

Nick Flynn died from a massive heart attack this morning. It seems like a bad dream . His brother has told us. So very sad. I'll post more information when I hear.

This is very sad news. We saw him Saturday for pizza and Squeezy's Lewes gig. Nick was looking well - I told him he needed to buy smaller shirts.  Think of him when you play 'Jamaica' Nigel.

Such sad news. Nick occasionally used to come to the Bedford Beginners sessions and we always met up at Playgroup events. RIP Nick.

So sad to hear this. Have known Nick for a few years via Playgroup and fixing up some boxes for him. He was a true gent and will be missed.

Very sad news. I didn't know Nick very well but I shared a lift one year with him to the Evesham
melodeon playgroup. It was my first time at this type of event and Nick was
very welcoming with a warm sense of humour, and generously gave me a good
quality melodeon strap he had spare and saw I would benefit from. After that Nick always
had a cheery greeting when we met occasionally at local folk events. A loss
of a warm character and true enthusiast from the melodeon community.

Nick’s funeral will be held at 1pm on Wednesday 16 October at the  HD Tribe's Shoreham Chapel in Shoreham – on – Sea. Details of the Chapel are given here. www.hdtribe.co.uk.
The family has asked for a solo melodeon tune to be played during the service – to be given by Andy Fereday – and a group of us to play background tunes during the Wake.
If you’re thinking of attending, you could contact Colin, his brother, or PM me and I’ll pass it on – helpful information for catering.
Colin can be contacted at Colin Flynn, 33 Highdown Avenue,Thomas A'Becket, Worthing,West Sussex, BN13 1QL.

I couldn't cope with 350 miles to see him off, but I'll remember his jolly red face and my best wishes and condolences will be directed towards his loved ones, on the day at least. God bless them!

I think the service might be streamed online by the funeral directors for those who can't be there in person - have a check on their website and maybe contact them?

Nick's funeral took place today, a sad occasion but lovely to hear so many  different memories of Nick.  Lovely to see so many of the folk family and what was termed 'the melodeon gang' in attendance to say goodbye.  We did him proud.

And yes, we played 'Jamaica'.

I've finally got round to editing and cleaning up the video of When The King Enjoys His Own Again, which I played at Nick's funeral. This is the home recording....
