Poldark tunes
« on: October 01, 2019, 02:12:37 PM »

Hiya long time since I posted last.
Does anyone have notes for playing the poldark theme tune?
I've been trying to do it by ear using this tin whistle tutorial as a reference. But I'm struggling matching the sound of my notes on melodeon to the shrill whistle.

Has anyone done a squeezebox friendly version?

I think the real question needs to be why is there not a melodeon equivalent of CutiePie?

I suspect that Vector was wondering why there was not a similar vlog offering tunes and tablatures for melodeon: a CutiePie for melodeon.

Anne Dudley's theme music for Poldark will be in copyright for rather a long time yet [composer's life, plus the remainder of the year in which the composer dies, plus seventy years] .

CutiePie's whistle fingering diagrams [for a whistle in the key of D] do give the notes but offer no indication of the rhythm.  Here is a little piece of .abc that does give some indication of the range and rhythm of eight bars of the tune: should help to fix the tune on a melodeon.

Which Poldark theme tune?
The 1970's version or the more recent one?

The more recent one.  The 1970s version was composed by Kenyon Emrys-Roberts.

Here is the Poldark score. If you just want the simple melody, just ignore the semiquavers.

Never seen this series of Poldark, so not heard this tune before. I would think though, that if you can play Sally Free and Easy by Cyril Tawney, you'll have no trouble with this one  >:E

Just as an aside to Vectors question about a melodeon equivalent of CutiePie I would point out the humble recorder also has its own version of CutiePie, youtube sarah jeffery/team recorder the Lady could be a twin of CutiePie !.
