Request to lovers of Stephen Delicq’s Music.
« on: October 18, 2019, 12:30:04 AM »

Thanks to fellow Melnet members advice I have been able to purchase Delicq’s tune book and 3 CD’s from his daughter Marie. I am thrilled.
A large portion of the tunes in the book, however, are from the La Discrete CD. That is the CD that she did not have.

When speaking with Marie, she informed me that there is no possibility of obtaining that CD from her as there is no longer any available. And apparently no future plans to reissue.

So, I have exhausted my possibilities of procuring Delicq’s “ La Discrete” CD.
I have searched the music sources of several European countries to no avail.
As well as most Amazon sites, amazon.fr included.

My request to my fellow Melnet members is to be able to purchase a used copy of La Discrete from someone on the forum.
I am willing to pay the going fee of a new copy.
If by chance someone is willing to burn a copy for me that would be fine as well. I really don’t need the liner notes or graphics. It’s the music that I’m interested in.

I am well aware of the ethics involved with “Burning” copies of an artist's music for profit.
I also understand that Delicq’s music will not become public domain for another 70 years or so.
All that withstanding, I do think that it is important for an artist’s music to continue being sown into the wind.  So I am hoping to be able to enjoy his complete music collection like so many of his other fans.

I live in the States. Please PM me if you have an offer. It would be immensely appreciated.

It is sad that his music is becoming less available. A real loss to the world.

I think it's a shame when great albums like this disappear. I wonder if Marie would consider making it available for download via Bandcamp or similar service? I appreciate some musicians don't want to damage sales when there's lots of physical product to sell, but once that's gone going digital download makes the music available and provides an income to the artist.

I do wish people would raid their out of print catalogue more and publish it.

I don't have a track listing so I don't know what's available on youtube but certainly the title track is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg_SwNw-yJw&list=RDzg_SwNw-yJw&start_radio=1

Two or three of those are available, but that's not so many.

My advice, Ken, would be to take a look at Amazon Fr on a regular basis. When I was on the look out for Stephane’s CD’s, I used to look at least once a week and, after a few months, I found one advertised. I bought it and they charged me 16 euros, so I was very lucky. This was about 4 years ago.

I too have the book published by Marie Delicq and very nice it is too. Most of the tunes in it, you can find on You Tube, although not always played by Stéphane himself, of course. My advice is, be careful who you listen to though, some are better than others!

As you know, there are a lot more pieces than just those in the book, (rumour says Marie has already mentioned the possibility of a second book!).  Have a look at this site, where you may well find the sheet music for tunes you have on the CD’s that you have managed to get hold of.

Good luck!

I wish now I'd bought it, so it could stay in the Melnet library.

Is there an actual melnet library, or is this just a way of saying someone on melnet has it?

I found this It looks like you pay after 14 days?

Looks pretty shady.

Other than the general shadiness, there's also a bit of a weird file size to the album: 1135 mb
