Melodeon (?) Figurine
« on: October 29, 2019, 08:53:19 AM »

I spotted this figurine in the Toy Museum in Pezenas last week. The labels suggested it was made by the German company Schuco in the 1930s.

I would find that pose rather difficult to play from - no shoulder strap and not braced on leg.

I have two that greet me daily as I come in the door.
Both came from over the pond when a friend was visiting, I think one from Germany and the other France.
Both of mine are melodeons.

We have quite a collection. A couple of gnomes, a cat, a rabbit, Pingu, a Playmobil figure, a couple of clowns and sundry children bearing melodeon shaped objects, at Christshmas we have an aligator in a tutu playing melodeon that goes on the tree and a Santa Claus/Lester candle holder.  There's also melodeon girl - a vintage 1960's(?) doll with a cardboard melodeon. Most of them came from charity shops.
