Two new videos by Mary Humphreys and Anahata
« on: November 26, 2019, 07:23:59 PM »

Apropos of nothing on melnet, and mainly for the benefit of a few musicians at our local session, we've just uploaded these,
played on D/G melodeon and English concertina:

The Trip to Brighton and The Charming Maid
Orrängsvalsen a Swedish waltz learned from an Orsa Spelmän recording.

One take each, warts and all. We weren't aiming for perfection but they don't sound as bad as I thought they might.
I did the Orrängvalsen as "Swedish Waltz" a couple of years ago for ThoTM "Scandi Tunes": I didn't know what it was called then.

At the time of writing, one of them had 2 likes and 0 views. How do they do that?

That happened to me, also! Except it was 2 dislikes. I was far from gruntled.

Lovely.  Thanks for posting those.  The Trip to Brighton and Charming Maid set takes me right back to the Sunday evening sessions around Cambridge a few years ago.  I haven't heard those tunes since then.

Yeah, right in the middle of the most complex bit of counterpoint! I think Anahata must have got a sudden rush of "musician's high".

Gosh, those were great - played with such aplomb from both of you!

Whenever I go to listen to a particular one of your videos, I end up spending an hour or so clicking on one after the other. Good medicine!
