I might as well post this. I wasn't going to. It's still half baked. I think the next take might have worked  ;D

Thanks everyone - time to move onto the next tune! Happy new year!

Please stick late recordings on the end of this thread as usual :-)

Happy new year!
Here is a very late proposal.. Very minimalist arrangement in the manner of « the gloaming » with piano, double bass, flugelhorn and... diatonic accordion.

Hunt the Squirrel

Here's my late entry. December was just too busy with the holidays and with the kids being off of school. I decided to learn the same hornpipe version that Anahata included in his video. This was collected by Cecil Sharp and published in 1909 in "Country Dance Tunes" but (to my ear at least) it is an obvious descendant of the better-known Playford tune. I learned this out of John Kirkpatrick's "English Choice" tunebook and the accompanying CD.

I thought some of you may be interested in this.  Hunt the squirrel performed in the keys of G Em and A - albeit with no left hand.  As some of the chromatic runs are not available on the melodeon, I thought it best to leave that for the guitar!
