Here's A Health To The Barley Mow.
The film was published commercially by
Folktracks [Peter Kennedy's own label] in 1955, but the film and the songs have been made available again more recently, in 2016. In the April/May 2016 releases, Topic Records'
Voice of the People series was extended from mostly Peter Kennedy recordings: selected and presented by Reg Hall.
The Barley Mow TSCD676D combines a CD of songs recorded in October and November 1953, June 1955 and July 1956 with a DVD reissue of the film made at the Ship Inn, Blaxhall, Suffolk, on 19th November 1955.
However, caution is always required when dealing with Peter Kennedy materials.
Reg Hall suggests that there was more than one filming session, as, during one song, Cyril Poacher appears in different clothes (Hall, 2017: page 252): a date of 10 December 1955 is given.
And, although there are only two melodeon players credited at the end of the film Fred Pearce [mistakenly called
Fred Pears in the credits: a mistake perpetuated by EAFA see:
http://www.eafa.org.uk/catalogue/5 in the paragraph headed
Featured People] and Bob Roberts, there is a third melodeon player [another 4-stop one-row] included.
