Beoga....Eochaid
« on: November 23, 2019, 03:27:14 PM »

Just heard this track on the Folk Club (radio Ulster) with Lynette Fay. The box playing is superb. In fact the tune sits wonderfully on the C row of a BC box, in a sort of E scale, with occasional F# grab, but mostly just up and down the C row.

I also heard that this morning and was quite taken with it. It's a good tune and their arrangement is great.

Anyone know what kind of box that is?

The band is Beoga, formed in 2002 at the All-Ireland Fleadh.
The original four members of the band are from Co. Antrim and Co. Londonderry in Northern Ireland:
Damian McKee, accordion;
Seán Óg Graham, multi-instrumentalist (including accordion);
Liam Bradley, piano;
Eamon Murray, bodhrán.

In 2005, Niamh Dunne, Co. Limerick, joined the band, vocals and fiddle.

The track Eochaid comes the band's latest album Before we change our mind released in 2016.

Damian McKee plays an accordion made by van der Aa
Seán Óg Graham plays an accordion made by Cairdín [in Muine Gall, Co. Offaly]

There are two actually. The other fellow is playing a Vanderaa - see at 3:16.

Yer man is still playing the Cairdin at 3:33 but at 3:34 he's on guitar. ;-)
