Have another cup of coffee and listen to this!
« on: December 02, 2019, 08:16:06 AM »

There always seems to be much talk of getting bigger and better. I am not making a criticism, I know there are good reasons for all singing, all dancing 3 row instruments and I love the sounds that come out of them, like everyone else.
From time to time, I hear a recording of someone playing a simple 2 row, (the only true diatonic) and I think Wow! There are many such recordings, many such players but this one is new to me.
Have a listen.... https://youtu.be/wq2TKXRI1vY

Yes - that's lovely, and your point about great music coming out of a 'simple two row' is well made. Mind you, this is a well made box too. Great box, great playing. Stephane Delicq was also a champion of the two row box and his music was equally captivating.

I certainly enjoyed listening to that whilst having my breakfast coffee - thanks for sharing Arty. I must see if I can find some other recordings.

It is lovely and I'll look for more when I have some time, but to be fair it's not a "simple two row". There are 12 basses and he is certainly using them.

Wonderful. I'd happily listen all day (but my coffee consumption might hit danger levels !)
Just been admiring the bellows control on the three time bourrees...and I really like the bransles.

"Frères de Sac" means "brothers of the bag" or maybe "bag brothers". But I can't think of a reason for this name.

Can somebody help out and share their guesses/knowledge about the meaning of their name?

Thanks in advance.

Sacchettini is, in Italian, ’a small bag’.

8 tracks from Etétrad 2015

Just the two brothers: Christophe and Jean-Loup, before they were joined by Marie Mazille and Marie Mercier.
Jean-Loup plays two-row and a two-and-a-half row diatonic accordions.
