Polkas
« on: December 28, 2019, 05:01:09 AM »

My new Manfrini C#D box arrived about a week ago- so far I'm delighted with the tone of the box, the reeds have a very rich and deep sound to them. The box also handles really well and has an excellent soft action on the right hand. Very pleased with the box so far. Here is a couple of polkas played on it, along with my dad.

Looks and sounds very good Robin. Is it actually new, or just new to you? I ask because I thought that Manfrini had stopped making diatonics to concentrate on piano accordions.

Thanks Stiamh!

It's a brand new box, as far as I know they are continuing to make diatonic boxes. They have recently updated their design to make the box a bit lighter (and possibly other changes I'm unaware of) and I think mine is one of the first batch of the new design, completed a week ago. I'm particularly happy with the action on the right hand, which is soft but very responsive. I got turned onto this maker from watching videos of Derek Hickey playing them.

Derek Hickey could turn you on to playing the egg box.
I particularly liked the 'new box' video with your mum, I presume, brevetting about doing light housework at the same time.
