Bit of silliness on a gloomy Sunday...

In the high and far off times oh best beloved, before Casta was Nari or Salty was Relled, Hohner Owners would sit in houses that were public, and play songs for their friends to sing along to...here's a couple for them...

https://youtu.be/7kcPa6hWOSg

Enjoyed those a lot.
I love the old Hohner saound of that box./

Better late than never. (:)

Here's a tune I stumbled upon by accident.
It's a tune from the Carpathian mountains. Even has that in its name. I reckon that counts as a submission criterion.
I very much like its groove, it just keeps on going and going and going.  :||:

Played on a G/C Pariselle with LM voicing

Hi there,

Here is a small attempt at Tullochgorum, that apparently translates to "the blue hill" (or at least it is known with this other name), with the first two variations from J. Scott Skinner.

Hope you'll like it (it's the first time I try and play some Scottish music).

That's a great tune, well played on a lovely sounding box.
Who could ask for more?

This has such a mellow tone to it and does not need any more than the melody you put out. Awesome.

The Carpathian Tune is also used by Bogart's Breakfast for a dance called 'Blue Jay', vis a vis http://www.boggartsbreakfast.org.uk/docs/tunes/Bluejay.pdf so it's a tune you will occasionally here it out on the circuit - I couldn't find a video of them doing it though - Anonymous learnt the dance from them so the tune as written there is in our repertoire. Interesting to hear it played as Fred did! Those fast notes in the B section do make for a much more intricate puzzle, I'm sure.

Took a bit of brain-wracking this one! Here's the Wild Hills of Wannie, replete with airy intro ;D

That was fantastic! Some of the best playing I’ve heard.

"Some of the best playing I’ve heard"

And now for something completely different, then!

Here's a tune called Little Cornard, a title which (admittedly) doesn't immediately engender thoughts of hills and/or mountains and valleys. It's only once through, but those of us who were educated at mainstream schools during the 50's or 60's will recall the first line of the words straight away, which may be a case for allowing it in this month. Who knows?

Yes that was where I first heard it! I saw this video of Boggarts years ago and have been looking for the tune ever since. They write some cracking dances eh!

A different take on McGrooger's fantastically lively "Mount Hills":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E7KCbi33-M

Learnt from the wonderful playing of Saul Rose at a recent workshop (in sweltering Auckland heat so quite a tutoring challenge).
Was my first workshop so a bit over-awed being in the presence of such melodeon greatness, but really pleased that I managed to learn this by ear when normally a dots person.
Hopefully some encouragement to others out there who feel they cannot learn by ear.  It is indeed possible.

All mistakes and poor playing of course mine and not down to the teaching ::)

Thanks everyone - time for a new theme coming up in a minute! Please continue to put any late contribs on the end of this thread as usual!

A few days late, but here's a simple take on Green Mountain Petronella - a session tune I found on Nick Barber's "Lovely Nancy" (Mally 2002).

Played on my D/G Maestro.
