Castagnari prices (Musical Andorra)
« on: January 08, 2020, 04:54:20 PM »

Hello!

I'm writing to ask if anyone has experience dealing with following shop. I'm currently looking for Castagnari Mory and did some research - prices on that page look a bit too low compared to others I have seen.

LINK: http://www.musicalandorra.com/es/diatonico/813-castagnari-mory.html

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Joonas

Most things are cheaper in Andorra. Not sure whether there would be tax to pay for it to be shipped to another country. I think I'm correct in saying they're not an EU country.

Andorra is not in the EU so you would have to pay VAT on top of the price with shipping.

Andorra can be very cheap if you happen to go there or closely, Barcelona or Toulouse or so ...
ABSINTHE is and has always been very cheap and good ... now you can find it everywhere in Europe ... but 20 years ago not so easy ...
Usually customs control is not too rigorous ...

When I went to Andorra it was from the French side, and the customs post wasn't even staffed. Just sail through ;)

My recommendation is always to buy from a reputable dealer in your own country, or at least a dealer to which you have easy access. Most reputable dealers will offer a warranty scheme of one sort or another. Then, if a fault develops within the warranty period, it is the dealer's responsibility to get the instrument sorted for you and you don't need to worry yourself about packaging, shipping and insuring the instrument off to Castagnari in Italy, or wherever your instrument's makers are located.

All their diatonics seem to be in  the keys of  G/C  G/C/F and this may be reflected in the prices.  Fine, if that is what you want, but otherwise . . .

Probably reflects their location, more than anything else.
